Follow your Registration to the Perfect Rim

It all starts with the desire for new alloy wheel rims. But then comes the practical question of which wheel rims fit your vehicle and have been approved for it by the authorities. The most important aid in answering this question is your vehicle registration. Since October 1, 2005, it has officially been known as the “Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I” in Germany, though this brought only minor changes from the previous version. The corresponding “Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II” is the vehicle title.

When checking the registration to choose the correct, approved wheel rims, the model number (TSN) and axle load are relevant. The TSN is an alphanumeric code consisting of a four-digit manufacturer number (HSN) and a field with further digits specifying the vehicle type. These can be found under points 2.1 and 2.2 of the vehicle registration. For vehicle registrations issued up to September 30, 2005, the TSN can be found under points 2 and 3.

The axle load is defined as the maximum load that may be transferred onto the roadway by the wheels of one axle or axle group. The axle load is given in kilograms and can be found in the vehicle registration under points 7.1 and 7.2. The numbering was not affected by the switch to the new vehicle registration format.
